This unpretentious and friendly yoga and detox ayurveda resort in Kerala is situated on a gentle slope facing the sea, with a secluded sandy beach and infinity pool. Proceeds from the holidays support the local orphanage.
Meals are served in a large pavillion perched on the hilltop overlooking the sea.
Food is freshly prepared from local produce, mostly organic, whenever possible it's picked fresh from their own gardens. You can choose from the buffet, a range of vegetables cooked in different ways, followed by fruit and even dessert if desired.
Fish and seafood is provided directly from the fishermen's catch at their beach. Rhythmic chanting can often be heard as the heavy nets are pulled in and it is fascinating to see this being done, just like fishermen would have done for thousands of years in this area.
In Kerala you are in 'God's own country' indeed. It's tropical, luscious and relaxing, following the natural rhythms of the sun and the waves. You can enjoy this secluded beach embraced by small cliffs either end, marvel at the open expanse of the sea, watch the fishermen haul in their nets, or relax under the sun umbrella and refresh with an occasional dip in the sea or large pool with bar. Or, after your Ayurvedic massages, simply hang out in your patio or garden.
...airport: Trivandrum airport, India. Airport transfers are included; flights are separate. A driver from the resort will collect you whatever time you arrive. The journey takes about 40 mins depending on traffic. Please note: If you are coming from Europe, your outbound flight will usually depart the day before the day of arrival due to time difference and journey time (return flight usually arrives back the same day).
Before booking your flights please check availability and confirm your booking with us.
If you arrive in the early morning hours and require access to your room before noon you will need to pay for that night.
...swimming facilities: there is a sandy cove right on your doorstep and also two swimming pools in the gardens, including an infinity swimming pool.
...shops: you can take a tuk-tuk to some local shops or to a traditional Indian village about 10 min drive.
...restaurants: full board is provided so there is no need for other restaurants. However if you wish to experiment, Kovalam's Lighthouse Beach, about 20 minutes by tuk-tuk, provides a vast choice of Indian and fusion restaurants.
...other attractions: nearby temple; watching the sunset from the cliff edge or the beach. We highly recommend a half day backwater trip in a punt boat (engined boats are less atmospheric and less ecological!).
This resort has a top, Green Leaf rating and focuses on offering professional Ayurveda treatment packages. The qualified staff (three experienced doctors) prescribe treatments for each guest, including oily massages and steam baths and individually recommended food.
This resort offers female doctors and massage therapists for females which we find is much appreciated by female guests. There are male doctors and massage therapists available for men.
Ayurveda treats the body, mind and spirit of a person as a whole entity, and works on the basis that the mind and body affect each other and together can overcome disease and strengthen the immune system. It can complement modern medicine. A one- or two-week programme can be very beneficial for general rejuvenation or a gentle detox. Allow two weeks or more for deeper health benefits. More on Ayurveda.
The Ayurveda Treatment package includes consultations with an Ayurvedic doctor and a range of individually prescribed treatments which may include daily massages and steams and recommended food. Each guest receives approximately 1.5 hours of treatments daily.
Yoga sessions are optional and offered daily overlooking the sea at sunrise, from 6:45am - 7:45am and at sunset, from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. The style is Hatha Yoga: The practice incorporates yoga poses with breathing, relaxation and meditation. Beginners and all levels of experienced Yogis are welcome.
One Yoga session is included for those taking the Ayurveda package; a second class can be taken for an additional Eu 5 per class. For those not taking Ayurveda all Yoga sessions cost Eu 5 per person. Sessions last about 1 hour.
Rejuvenation Ayurveda Packages are offered in a single, double or twin ensuite room.
Prices per person sharing double/twin room are lower, and depend on type of accommodation.
All prices are seasonal and subject to change. GBP prices depend on the exchange rate.

What is being done for the environment and the local community?
This resort was set up as a fundraising initiative in order to start up a local orphanage and provide accommodation and food for local people in need.
Proceeds from the holidays fund many of their charity projects. The resort is actively involved on a day to day basis with their charitable work which includes two local orphanages with schools for girls and boys, a children's healthcare clinic, education for women as well as providing food, medical care and pensions for the elderly.
Any guests wishing to make further donations during their holidays are most welcome.
This resort cooperates and lives in harmony with the local fishermen and employs local staff.
Natural materials are used where possible. Any waste is separated and recycled where possible. Plastics are given to locals who collect them to earn some money through recycling.
What can I do?
"Lovely resort, great staff, nice and relaxing." Elise B, Mar 12
"It was amazing and I had a really fantastic time. Every day was a highlight – and seeing all the Christmas lights before they were taken down was magical. I feel revitalised and full of energy. Thanks so much for all your help and advice – much appreciated, am thinking of booking again for next Christmas." Lou DVM, producer, Jan 12
"The holiday was very good, I was very impressed. It's a lovely resort with a brilliant location and friendly staff. Good food, good room. I had such fun and would definitely go back." Jonathan Barnett, Jan 12
"I had a lovely time...sitting on my terrace watching the sunset. I felt totally relaxed. After only six yoga sessions my body was noticeably more flexible. My body felt great after the healthy food adapted to my body type (I was very orthodox and chose only my body type food all week). Extremely friendly staff; where do they find all these helpful, constantly smiling people?" Annette M, busy Brussels eurocrat!, Jan 12
"Beautiful, peace and quiet, relaxation - a good change of pace from commercial, metropolitan India. Staff are welcoming and helpful. Easy to get around by taxi if you want to explore." JE, Aug 11
"A world away from the noise and stress of the UK. Unlike European seaside locations, there are no speedboats or jet skis, just fishermen paddling their long narrow wooden boats. The Keralan people are very warm and kind. The Malayalam language is very interesting to the ear, particularly when sung. The ayurvedic vegetarian food was delicious - every day something different, with delicate herbs and spices. On Christmas Eve there was a large banquet which combined all sorts of food - vegetarian and non vegetarian together with Keralan music and dance. The treatments were extremely relaxing...I found a gentle swing in the hammock underneath the coconut palm tree was a very pleasant way to enjoy the beautiful gardens and seaview." Jane Chappell, Jan 11
